Her multi-media work celebrates spirit and life using writing, watercolour, textiles, found objects and photography. The Soul Whispers Pictures is her fourth poetry chapbook. Susan has completed her first novel and is working on a new collection of poems called Hope Rising. She currently writes and creates in Calgary, AB where she lives with her husband, Karl, two teenage sons, Jason and Michael, and her cat, Sunshine.

From The Soul Whispers Pictures:

        The Woman with Bare Ankles

She is remembering what it is like
to somersault down a grassy slope.
There is a small boy on either side:
red, blue, yellow all tumbling
on the sunlit green.
Perhaps she is teaching her sons
or they are reminding her
of laughter
yellow as their hair.
Watermelon seeds and grass stains
cling to their shirts
like boy-scout badges.

There is a moment on her head
when she can feel the hill
pressing, enveloping her.
Tumbling blue of sky
white clouds float
like opaque fish
and she rolls in soft denim
soft grass, hugging knees
clasping bare ankles.
Smiling in an ocean of colour
a summertime child.
